Ross Building was engaged to construct an architecturally designed extension to a 1960s red brick home in Newport. The addition features a burnished concrete walkway connecting the existing home to a new master bedroom, walk-in robe, and two wet areas.
The design showcases blackbutt hardwood doors and windows that extend beyond traditional frames, creating an expansive connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. Working on the steeply sloped site presented challenges that our team navigated with expertise.
A key design element was preserving the existing aged sandstone retaining walls built by the client’s late father, which were thoughtfully integrated into the overall scheme. The hardwood timber portal structure features large highlight windows that flood the space with natural light.
Our art-loving client specifically chose Markham Lee Architecture to ensure the design would be executed with the aesthetic excellence the project deserved.
